Dana Outlaw graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1999 with degrees in sociology and political science. Upon graduating from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 2003, Dana immediately started her firm with an emphasis on family law. In addition to practicing law, Dana is an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.
Dana Outlaw is a mediator and mediates cases involving child custody, property division, spousal maintenance and child support. She has served as a Special Master and conducted hearings on maintenance and child support. She is frequently appointed to represent children as their Guardian ad Litem in cases involving child abuse and neglect. She is the former contract attorney for Hope House, Inc., a domestic violence shelter, where she represented victims of domestic violence in orders of protection, divorce, child custody and child support matters. She is an experienced appellate attorney and has argued cases in front of the Missouri Court of Appeals Western District.
Dana has been the core presenter and moderator at local and statewide bar meetings and has trained attorneys on issues involving domestic violence and the impact on children, child support calculations and case law updates. She is active with the Legal Aid of Western Missouri Pro Bono Volunteer Attorney Project and provides pro bono legal services to those referred through the program. Dana is the recipient of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Law Alumni Foundation Pro Bono/Public Service award for her commitment to providing representation those who cannot afford legal it.
Dana Outlaw is the former Chair of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association Domestic Law Committee and Co-Vice Chair of the Family Law Committee. She is a member in good standing with the Missouri Bar Association, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, Eastern Jackson County Bar Association and Juvenile Courts and the Law Committee. She is also a former member of the Jackson County Safe Family Coalition and has served on the planning committee for the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Foundation Annual Domestic Violence and Children Interdisciplinary Conference.
Dana Outlaw is an experienced trial lawyer who is dedicated to bringing her client’s matters to a fair and equitable resolution. She has handled divorces ranging from simple no property cases to high value, complex asset divorces.
